Transforming a Victorian school building in to a family home

Modern kitchen with dark blue cabinets, a white island countertop with three wooden stools, brick wall, wooden ceiling beams, and pendant lights.

Project Vision

Transform this converted school building into a functional and exciting home for a young family. Emphasising the original Victorian features whilst also complimenting the new modern renovations and extension. The use of bold colours and natural textures was key.

Project Delivery

The mix of old and new was used to create a stylish yet liveable and child friendly home. Accent colours throughout the property highlight individual pieces of furniture and joinery while textured walls using a neutral palette give depth and warmth to the spaces, without overcrowding them.

Crittall windows and doors highlight the inner courtyard and give a more modern architectural feel to the heart of the house. Softer organic shapes were used throughout the lighting selection to draw the eye up to the high ceilings and provide a link to the beautifully landscaped surroundings.

It is always a pleasure to work on interesting buildings with a history like this one. Once a school, this home was transformed in to a super fresh and fun home with break out spaces for every member of the family including an indoor conservatory with a sliding roof, an epic play room bringing a forest feel to the loft and an open plan kitchen dining area with exposed beams and brickwork.
