Creating a completely bespoke Hampstead home
Project Brief
This home required a full refurbishment from top to bottom where the existing space was gutted, and the layout was completely reimagined. The brief was to create something impactful, unique and fun that suited both the adults, and their three children. The space needed to be practical, with plenty of storage and room for the children to grow and have their independence whilst also giving the adults their own oasis of calm in the formal living room and master suite.
The client trusted us to create bold and playful schemes in every room which completely transformed the house from a traditional property, to something truly unique. So many of the design decisions in this property are bespoke, and everything about it is personal to the client, resulting in a one-of-a-kind home.

Only one of the original door openings remains on the ground floor, all others are brand new. Two completely bespoke glass doors were designed for the kitchen and family room, with beautiful arched doorways to allow the previously enclosed hallway to be flooded with light from the back of the house.
New windows were added to the back of the property to create a connection to the garden which can be seen the moment you walk through the front door. All architectural features were reinstated as part of the refurbishment as a nod to the building’s original features. These included flat coffered ceilings, cornices, panelling, ceiling roses, joinery detailing and concealed doors.
Completely bespoke
The joinery package for the ground floor was extensive including a completely bespoke kitchen and back kitchen, a family room unit concealing the TV which appears at the touch of a button, a built-in desk in the music room and a stunning bespoke bar in the formal living room complete with walnut internals and antique mirrored details.
In the kitchen, new foundations were laid in order to support the structure for a new back kitchen. The traditional concept of a back kitchen lent itself perfectly to more traditional design decisions such as bespoke shaker-style units, cast iron shelving and tiles with a playful take on a traditional style.

On the first floor, the stairs were repositioned and bedrooms were resized to accommodate two new ensuite bathrooms. Under the new stairs bespoke drawers and cupboards were added making the most of every corner. The master bedroom became a full master suite with a full-height dressing room with a bespoke ladder and a sizeable ensuite.
A utility was built in place of one of the original bathrooms. In the child’s bedroom, a mezzanine level was added complete with a rope to climb straight down into the bed. This bedroom also features a full-height climbing wall! A new ensuite was added to the guest bedroom which is the most traditionally designed bedroom and bathroom in the property.
Transforming the top floor
The 2nd floor was completely transformed. In both bedrooms, we used the loft space to add a mezzanine level to create snugs with plenty of privacy. In one of the bedrooms, a dormer and window were added to transform the eaves storage into an ensuite and dressing room with a bespoke curved bookcase surrounding the entrance.
In the 2nd bedroom an ensuite was built with new windows and more bespoke joinery seamlessly linking the dressing area, wardrobes, headboard and bedside tables.
We are so delighted with our complete home transformation. Mia and her team worked tirelessly to design a use for every space in the house in order to create a room for every purpose and maximise our storage and entertaining space, with complete layout changes on two of the three floors. Every room has its own distinct personality with bold colours and schemes working well with each other as you move through the house. We are particularly pleased with the bathrooms and children's bedrooms which really do make it a special family home.
