The Brief: to restore the classic features to their former glory and let them take centre stage by complementing them with soft, elegant but contemporary furniture.

The spectacular ceiling moulding detail that was practically invisible when the new owner moved in was repainted in a two-tone neutral palette thus enabling it to regain its former grandeur. It is quite definitely one of the defining traditional focal points of the room and the theme.

These muted tones are mirrored in the contemporary sofa that bends itself around the fireplace. A richly textured swivel chair and beautiful leather-bound coffee table soften the lines. Rich red hues provide warmth and depth to this elegant neutral scheme with varying textures.

The kitchen was stripped out completely and replaced by bespoke solid cabinets and topped with warm oiled oak surfaces. Traditional has again had a brush of contemporary with simple panelling and carefully planned spot lights throughout. This made-to-measure cabinetry is repeated on the back wall of the room where ample storage sits alongside the inset ovens.

The red and neutral theme continues in the Master Bedroom with heavy textured satin curtains that pick up the sheen of the feature wall. Bespoke cupboards line one wall with mirrored panels to give a sense of width and space. The duck-egg wallpaper provides the perfect backdrop for the paintings and the soft furnishings.
