The brief: to transform this large home into a welcoming modern family home.

The entrances to all the ground floor rooms were re-configured to make space for double doors with glass panels so that light flows abundantly from one room to another. The living room continues that Asian feel with dramatic statement furniture.

When the sliding doors between the two reception rooms are open there is a stunning, easy flowing entertaining space. The soft neutral tones of the walls, rug and beautiful sofa, are again complemented with splashes of red.

We then move on through to the kitchen via an ingenious sliding door with visible tracks in keeping with the industrial theme that the clients were keen to introduce. The kitchen is much more relaxed and rustic with a combination of beautifully coloured French-style velvet dining chairs, antique pendant lights and dark wood.

In the study the industrial feel continues with a touch of relaxing comfort coming from the chaise longue, complete with reading light. Moving upstairs we come to the opulent ‘boudoir’ with its shimmering carpet, intricate wallpaper on every wall, lavish curtains and delicate lighting, not forgetting the gold-leaf fire surround.

In the Master Bedroom walls were moved and the room entirely re-configured and fitted with floor to ceiling bespoke storage. The en-suite is flooded with natural light and the glass shower surround means that the space flows effortlessly. The clean lines of the wooden sink and toilet cabinets contrast beautifully with the natural palette of the rest of the room. The second bathroom is much more feminine and traditional in feel.

The final area is the loft conversion, a lovely big airy space complete with an en-suite shower room. This is definitely a big-boy’s ‘play’ space with a wall mounted TV and a clever coffee table with integrated bottle and glass storage. The purple hues are back in force with the doors for the under-eave storage and the rug beneath the table to lock it all together.
